Objectives of the Library:-
The objectives of the N.S.S. College of Commerce & Economics Library is to fulfill the information need of the college students and the staff to achieve their highest academic potential and help them acquire research skills necessary for lifelong learning. To support in teaching learning process of Teaching faculty, and administrative staff and to participate in cooperative information exchange within the wider library / educational community.
Location of the Library:-
The library of the college is located on the D wing 5th floor of the college building with air-conditioned. The library has separate room for teaching staff.
Library Automation:-
Library is fully automated with SOUL software since 2009 and in the month of January 2022 we switched to new version i.e SOUL3.0 from SOUL2.0. The SOUL software is library ILMS software, state-of-the-art integrated library management software designed and developed by the INFLIBNET centre Gandhinagar. The entire collection of the library is fully barcoded and the transaction of the books are done using barcode scanner. The students and staff can search the library catalogue or holding of library with the help of OPAC (Online public access catalogue) and Web OPAC on computer and also on mobile application
Collection of Books & Periodicals :-
N.S.S. College of Commerce and Economics library has more than 20,000 books on different subjects. The library collection includes text books, reference books, and Marathi books, Hindi books etc. The library has good collection of reference books like encyclopaedias, dictionaries and subject reference books. All these books are arranged according to D.D.C 22nd edition.
The library is subscribing to many physical journals and magazines. The periodicals include international and national journals and magazines.

Reading Room:-
Library reading room is fully air conditioned with Wi-Fi facility with sufficient and comfortable seating arrangement for students. for reading and referencing.
Staff Reading Room:-
We are separate air conditioned staff reading room for teachers. The staff reading room has four computers with internet connectivity and they can take print out also.
UGC Network Resource Centre:-
The main moto of UGC Network Resource Center is to provide ICT facility to the students.The students have access to 4 computers with internet connectivity. The students are using this facility for their information needs and for general usage. The students are accessing e-resource like NLIST data base and also web OPAC from these computers.
The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) can be accessed in the college library through the intranet. It can be accessed online through the internet by following the link SOUL WebOPAC. Access to WebOPAC is available 24 X 7. If you are using your mobile phones to For access access MOPAC, Download SOUL m-OPAC from Google store and get it activated from library. The Users can search the books/collection of the library's through WebOPAC. The following are the some of the search strategies to search books. can be searched by 'Title', 'Author', etc through the tab 'Search Books'. Simple Search and Boolean Search options are available for searching. Students can also check the books that they have borrowed through the 'Member Status' tab available through the WebOPAC. They should use their Control ID in the 'Enter Member Code' field to access this information.

Library Membership:-
Library Membership
The staff and the students of N.S.S. College of Commerce & Economics can only become a member of the Library. Each student gets one library card and they can issue one books against the library card for a period of 7 days.
Teaching and non-teachingstaffs of the college are by default, members of the college library, however they have to get register themselves in the library.
Library membership to General Public:
The college as a social asset, it is our extended responsibility to outreach to the general public so we are extending our library services to general public along with enrolled students and staff members of our college. We have started giving services to general public and alumni members by charging nominal charges. Under this scheme alumni members and the general public can become the members of our college library and get access to library. The members can refer our reference books, journals and magazines etc. and they can lend the library books, and photocopying services is also provided to them.
Number of loans:
A student permitted to borrow 1 book for a period of 7 days, reaching staff can issue as many as books they wish and non-teaching staff members can also issue the books from the library. The Librarian reserves the right to call back any issued book at any time.
Question Bank (through green initiatives)
Thinking of green initiatives we are providing old question papers through green mode to students through digital media i.e. through google classroom, so that students can have access to these collection online any time anywhere it saves paper and the time of the students.

We are providing the book bank facility to the students of F.Y., S.Y. and T.Y B.Com students. The criteria for book bank scheme are on the basis of merit and Physically Handicapped students. Every year we provided at least 5 to 10 parent of the student strength of F.Y.B.Com., S.Y.B.Com.and T.Y. B.Com.students.
Book Bank Facility to Backward Class Students:
We have special collection of text books which are purchased from the grant received for Students Welfare, University of Mumbai for providing book bank facility to back ward class students. The sanctioned grant was fully utilized for purchase of text books to provide book bank facilities to backward class students of our college. The students of F.Y.B.Com, S.Y.B.Com and T.Y.B.Com are benefiting from thisfacility.

Library Rules and Regulations:-
General Rules
1. Only confide students are allowed to enter the college library on the strength of a valid identity card, which must be produces as and when it is demanded by the library staff.
2. All the students should sign in register at the entrance of the Library
3. Complete silence must be maintained in the library, Discussion, Arguments, Whisperings are strictly prohibited.
4. Using cell phones, I-pods, Walkman, etc are strictly prohibited in the library.
5. No reservation of seats is permitted in the library under any circumstance.
6. Eating is not allowed in the library
7. Group discussion is not allowed in the Library
8. Students are not allowed to disturb the seating arrangement in the library. While going back keep the chair to its original position
9. Infringement of the library rules will result in the withdrawal of the library facility from the students.
10. All cases of the violation of rules will be reported to the Principal for suitable actions.
Home Lending
1. Library books will be issued to the regular students for home lending only during the prescribed hour in every academic year.
2. One book will be issued per students for a period of 7 days against their Library card.
3. Check carefully the due date of the book before leaving the counter
4. The book/s should be returned on or before due date. If a book is not returned by due date then Rs.10 per day per book will be charged.
5. Strict action will be taken against marking, underlining, and damaging the book.
6. Book has to be produced physically for renewal of book.
7. Reference books like Dictionaries, periodicals, question papers, news papers are strictly reference in the library not to be taken outside the library. If any of these book/s are required for Reprography (Xerox) permission should be taken from the Librarian.
8. Students are advised to examine the book issued to them before leaving the circulation counter. They will be responsible for any damage to the book.
9. Student/s are responsible for any misuse of ID card or Library card lost by them.
10. Exchange of library card or ID card is strictly prohibited.

1. The reference books are arranging according toDewi Decimal Classification system.
2. Students can issue the reference books against their I D cards.
3. Reference books are strictly referring in the library premises only.

1. The Computers and internet provided for the purpose of research and other educational use only.
2. Downloading, installing and running of software are not allowed in UGCNCR
3. Mobile phones and other devices which may cause disturbances to others should not be used in the UGCNCR.
4. The library reserves the right to ask any person to stop using computer and internetif the student/s is misusing the facility.
